Fret Level + More - Shertler Acoustic

Shertler Acoustic proved to be a tricky one to get right. During the Workbench checks I noticed some bad QC with the last 4 frets which were over-bevelled and not crowned, as if the the high points were just ground off, this made for dead notes on the high strings. The nut was slightly too high and the bridge saddle wasn't flat.

The Fret issues were rectified with a full level, crown and dress, but before starting the levelling I rolled my straight edge over the fretboard while checking the neck was perfectly level and there seems to be a very slight ripple/twist in the wood around the 5th fret, sometimes the action height and relief has to compensate for this.

I levelled off the bridge saddle which gives the correct break angle for 11-52 gauge and also cut the correct radius into the nut.

During the setup I tend to aim for around 0.10" to 0.15" neck relief for players that prefer a lower action, this guitar really didn't take to this well and it went a touch over my "acceptable" buzz and rattle threshold. With the neck relief set at 0.25" at the 8th fret, although feeling higher than I would have liked, the action is now buzz free and rings out much better.
