This 5 string Multiscale Ibanez had 'dead notes' and really bad factory standard fretwork on Ibanez's part, not to their usual standards at all!
Another awkward issue to factor in on this Ibanez's trip to the Fretbuzz Workshed, is that she's already been strung up with really expensive Tape Wound Strings, so as it's a headless bass cut short at the top of the neck, I've had to remove the ball end and tape them out of the way whilst I get busy sorting the fretwork.
Extra work was required to get the frets perfectly level, these frets are huge! Once I'd levelled them off, they were perfectly crowned and dressed, fretboard was conditioned to make the grain 'pop' before going from 200-3000 grit followed by a micromesh and polishing compound to finish the fretwork off.
Every note now plays as it should and was setup with 0.15" relief at the 8th fret and a great playing low action 🎸🎛️⚡
Full burl top has been oiled and polished, before being buffed out for a satin look.
