Everyone knows I'm a Matsumoku factory geek, so was happy to get to work on this! One of their 80's active bass models with a neanderthal EQ for a variety of tone options (video at the bottom)
This bass has seen some hammer, literally it looks like Thor has been beating the shit out of it over the years, which has resulted in cracks throughout the body and cavity. The owner requested a repaired 'cracked china' vibe to fill the cracks with a black epoxy resin, to emphasize the battle scars, cool idea. I've also cleaned up all the brass hardware, reduced a ridiculous amount of forward bow on the neck, I'm quite sure it's the first time it's ever had the truss rod adjusted... Then it was time to rid the fretboard and frets of 30 odd years of GUNK. the setup is low to medium with just the right amount of relief, all the pots had a good clean. plays and sounds amazing. Jobs a good un 😎🤘
