This HB Baritone had the ultimate tuners and pickup upgrade! If you find a good cheap guitar, but want to add to it, why not spend a little extra and use it as a modding platform? That's exactly what my client did!
One thing is for certain, you should already like the instrument and look towards improving it, some cheap guitars are exactly that, cheap and poorly made, although these days the chances of getting a really bad one is quite slim. I do lots of upgrades and if you're reading this and want to push your guitar to the next level, don't hesitate to get in touch. One thing worth mentioning is that HB use 8mm tuning bushings and I've routed the headstock to fit 10mm standard machine heads.
I've added silver hardware before wiring in DiMarzio Virtual P90's for that extra growl and punch, plus the best Kluson tuners on the market! These are a whopping 19:1 gear ratio, absolutely solid, and well worth ordering from the states. I've set up in B with Ernie Ball Baritone strings but swapped out the .72 for a .64 for better playability.
